Free Food Friday!

Community Food Bank held a Free Food Friday event on August 31, 2007. Due to the generosity of Kaiser Permanente we were able to provide 3500 people with healthy product.

Free Food Friday is a program that serves low income families and individuals directly by providing a variety of food items and fresh fruits and vegetables. Participants were invited to come to the Fresno Fairgrounds and receive a box of food plus produce. The contents of the box included canned meats, cereal, pastsa, canned fruits, canned vegetables, beans, rice, mac and chesse, and much more! The line to receive food stretched back at least five city blocks! The event was covered by major media outlets, such as the Fresno Bee and Channel 26.

Because of the success of this event, Community Food Bank plans to sponsor other Free Food Fridays four times per year.

We would like to thank all our 60 volunteers who came to help distribute food. Currently we are seeking more volunteers to help with the distribution. If you or your agency would like to volunteer at the next Free Food Friday, please contact us and you will be notified of the next event.
