Turkey Patrol 2007

Fresno County Sheriff’s Deputies and Officers from the California Highway Patrol and Fresno Police Department reported for duty for the Community Food Bank’s holiday “Turkey Patrol.”

Community Food Bank enlisted the help of local law enforcement to help distribute meal boxes to families in-need during Thanksgiving 2007.

“We are excited to partner with our local law enforcement to help create a hunger free Central Valley,” said Dana Wilkie, Chief Executive Officer, Community Food Bank. “Without the help of our member agencies and our law enforcement agencies many families in under served communities would go without this Thanksgiving.”

Community Food Bank provided more than 1,500 Thanksgiving meal boxes to families throughout the Central Valley. The meal boxes were made possible through community support and donations. Along with an 8 to 16 pound turkey, the meal boxes included other traditional items such as mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, cranberry sauce and cake.

“No one should go hungry during the holidays. Through the generous donation from major supporters like Councilwoman Cynthia Sterling and individuals, we are able to feed families and keep the holiday spirit of giving alive,” said Wilkie.
