16th Annual Empty Bowls

Community Food Bank serves 90,000 people each week, but with the Fresno food hardship rate at 27.2 percent, the food bank isn't reaching everybody in need.  That's why Community Food Bank relies on contributions from individuals and local businesses to operate and grow food distribution programs - so that we'll all see a day when not one of our neighbors goes to sleep hungry.

Empty Bowls in the food bank's major benefit dinner and raises funds for food distribution programs.  The event attracts business-minded and philanthropic individuals and is fun-filled evening of networking, friends and food.  Participants enjoy soups and pastas prepared "Iron Chef-style" by Institute of Technology culinary arts students, bid on an assortment of fabulous packages at the silent auction and take home hand-crafted ceramic bowls created by local students, artists and members of the community.

This year’s event will take place Thursday, September 8, at the Clovis Veterans Memorial Building (Hughes Avenue @ Fourth Street) and the fundraising goal for the evening is $50,000.  Because the food bank can provide nine meals for every dollar donated, Empty Bowls will provide 450,000 meals for those in need, right here in the Valley.
We hope you'll consider joining us in the fight against hunger by sponsoring or attending this 16th Annual Empty Bowls benefit dinner.
